A magnetic clasp is a jewelry making finding made of a pair of magnets with a silver, silver-plated, gold, gold-plated or gold-filled cover to which the magnets have been glued. The magnetic property of attraction keeps the clasp closed. The clasp can be easily opened by tugging gently to overcome the magnetism. Magnetic clasps are easy to put on, but do have some disadvantages. The magnet in the clasp is attracted to any material containing iron. This can mean that your bracelet will attach to your "silverware" when the silverware isn't made of silver or has some stainless steel content.
