SpokesDog Boomer for Beads, Jewelry Tools and Jewelry Making Supplies by WigJig Web SiteWigJig News -- AKA Boomer Sez:

Our Spokesdog:  If an insurance company can have a gecko, we have decided that we can have a spokesdog.  Boomer, shown at right, is our spokesdog.  If you select Boomer's picture at right, you will be able to view Boomer at work.

How to Unsubscribe:  If you signed up for our newsletter and then decided you don't want to receive it any more, the proper way to unsubscribe is to select the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of every newsletter e-mail or to follow our sign up link above.  On that sign up page we also provide a way for people to unsubscribe.

8mm Man Made Aquamarine GemstoneBirthstone for March:  The birthstone for March is the aquamarine.   We sell both man-made aquamarine and aquamarine colored cubic zirconia (CZ) in our Internet store.  Man-made aquamarine are identical in chemical composition to natural or mined aquamarine, but without the inclusions and other flaws.  Aquamarine colored CZs have one advantage over natural or man-made Aquamarine and that advantage is hardness.  CZs are significantly harder than aquamarine and are therefore a much better choice for rings.  This month we have our 6mm man-made, round aquamarine gemstones on sale for 20% off.  Please select here for more information on aquamarine.

Three Artistic Wire Rings Made by Sanja KlajicGuest Contributor:  Our guest contributor for this newsletter is Sanja Kljajic of Sibenik, Croatia.  This is Sanja's third time for providing designs for our newsletter.  Sanja recently ordered the Twist 'n' Curl tool from us along with some colored Artistic Wire.  In a very short time, she has made some very unique and attractive designs that combine wire beads and wire coils made on the Twist 'n' Curl with other jewelry items.  We couldn't show all of the wonderful designs that Sanja provided in our newsletter so we created a new web page just to show the designs.  Please select here, or select the picture of the rings to visit all of our pictures of jewelry made by Sanja.  If you would like to e-mail Sanja, her e-mail is sanja.kljajic@si.hnet.hr

Money Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectSelling Jewelry:  Many people ask us whether they can sell jewelry they make using our copyrighted designs.  The short answer is yes.  We do authorize people to sell jewelry made using our copyrighted designs.  Our requirement is that this authorization extends to jewelry made by individuals and not by mass production or via a large team of people.  If you sell jewelry made from our designs on the Internet we would appreciate it if you indicated that the jewelry was made with the authorization of www.wigjig.com and included a link to our web site.

Here is what we do not authorize.  We do not authorize people to take our copyrighted designs, add components to the design and then copyright the modified design.  We believe that copyrighting jewelry that contains one of our copyrighted designs would be violating our copyright.

Finally, for people selling jewelry, we have updated our web page with suggestions on how to sell hand made jewelry.  You can view this updated web page on jewelry as a business here.  If anyone would like to provide us feedback on this or any other web page, we are happy to accept feedback.  Just send us an e-mail.

Free Instructions for 30 Degree Spiral Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making Project Free Jewelry Design:
30 Degree Spiral Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings Jewelry Making ProjectWith every newsletter we provide a new jewelry design from WigJig University to spur the creative juices.  The new design for this newsletter is the design for the 30 Degree Spiral Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings shown left and right.  These earrings are called 30 Degree Spiral earrings because they are made on the 30 degree radials on one of our jewelry making jigs with a round peg pattern.  The earrings shown here were made on our WigJig Centaur, but could have been made on our WigJig Cyclops and would look the same.  We used our WigJig Spiral Maker with our jig to make the spiral in the earrings.

This is an advanced beginners jewelry making project.  20 inches of 18 gauge soft wire, 2 inches of 20 gauge wire, two commercial ear wires, 6 head pins and your combination of beads are required to make these earrings.  The beads we selected were 6mm round Swarovski glass crystal beads along with clear S/L 2x4mm bugle beads.

To view our free instructions for how to make these 30 Degree Spiral Jewelry Wire & Beads Earrings select here, or select either picture above.

We maintain a techniques web page that provides links to the discussion of techniques in our prior newsletters.  You can visit this web page here.  Follow the links on that page to the discussion of the technique in that newsletter.

Free Instructions in Jewelry Wire Wrapped Pendant Jewelry Making ProjectJewelry Technique:
Jewelry Wire Wrapped Pendant Jewelry Making TechniqueThis week's jewelry making technique is a discussion on how to make the wire wrapped pendant shown right and left.  The picture on the right is the front of the pendant, and the picture on the left is the back, or the portion worn next to the wearer's body.  This technique uses 20 or 22 gauge soft wire.  The pendant is begun by making a spiral using our WigJig Spiral Maker and can be made with any of our WigJig tools and the associated Spiral Maker.  The approach we use will work with a stone or other object in almost any irregular or regular shape.  Please select the pictures left or right, or select here to view our free instructions for making this wire wrapped pendant.   As with any new jewelry making skill, we do suggest that you practice this technique with inexpensive practice wire

Nostalgia Corner:Free Instructions for Spiral Link Jewelry Wire and Beads Bracelet Jewelry Making Project
Sterling Silver Simple Jewelry Wire & Beads Ring Jewelry Making DesignThis week's featured design in our Nostalgia Corner is the design for our Spiral Link Wire & Beads Bracelet.  We received a lot of questions about the Spiral Link at the Tucson Gem and Jewelry Show, so this seems like a good time to bring back that design for a second look.

Warning! Philosophy Follows.
This is only a statement of philosophy.

Boomer Philosophy:

In the past month we received an e-mail from a lady who began by telling us how awful our web site was and finished by asking for directions on how to find a specific design that she indicated she had previously found on our site.  Unfortunately, it wasn't our awful site that had that design, it was some other web site.  We responded to this lady as politely as we could that the design she was seeking was not now and had not ever been on our site.  Of course this lady was not a customer, she was just someone who wanted something for nothing and felt that the insults were justified because we hadn't made it easy for her to get something for nothing from us.

There are many ways to respond to a situation like the above.  One way is to say, people can sure be rude.  Another way is to wonder if this non-customer would do the same thing if she were trying to borrow a cup of sugar from her neighbor.  Our opinion is that leading with insults isn't the best way to ask for favors.  We really don't believe that she would do this with her neighbor.  The final response is the most appropriate response -- to learn from it.  We never want to treat another human being the way this lady treated us.  This lady made an error by assuming something that turned out to be wrong.  She did not give us the benefit of the doubt and she vented her frustration for her own shortcomings on a completely innocent stranger -- us.  Our take away from this is that we will never be able to stop some people from behaving this way, but we want to make very certain that we try to never make this same mistake.  (I can honestly say that I have been frustrated at times, in the future I will try to be doubly cautious that I don't allow my frustrations to turn me into the kind of person we have described here -- both wrong and rude.)  Our message to our readers is that like us, please learn from this incident.  Don't assume the worst and don't let your frustrations turn you into somebody you would not like.

Boomer and Gary apologize for the sermon.  They were both reminded that they aren't perfect and that it's a good idea to keep that fact private.  It's best not to advertise your imperfections as the above e-mailer did.  We hope to learn from this situation and thought we would share it with others.

We are continuing to improve our newsletter, so please feel free to provide feedback at custsrv@wigjig.com
