A hook and catch clasp is
one of the more common findings used in making necklaces. These
instructions will describe how to make the hook portion of the clasp shown
at right. The
instructions for making the catch portion of this clasp can be found here.
Step 1: Cut a segment of 18 or 20 gauge wire 3 1/2 inches long. Step 2: Make a loop in one end of this wire. Step 3: Straighten this wire by pulling it through the jaws of
your nylon jaw pliers. Step 4: Position a 3/16" Super Peg and one regular metal peg as shown here. Place your initial loop in your wire on the regular metal peg and wrap the wire around the Super Peg as shown. S
Step 8: Using your bent chain nose pliers, grasp the loop made on the second regular metal peg and twist it 90 degrees.
