Step 13: Using your round nose pliers make a 180 degree bend
in the wire, on the longer segment of wire, but as near the bend as
possible. When completed your 180 degree bend should appear as
shown
Step 14: Now we are ready to use our Spiral Maker. For
anyone who isn't familiar with making a spiral using the Spiral Maker,
we have a You Tube video that shows how to use our Spiral Maker.
You
can view that You Tube video here. Make spirals on both
ends of the wire component. The Spiral Maker won't allow you to
complete the spirals, so the best you will be able to do is to make
partial spirals on either end as shown at left.
Step 15: To complete this wire component, first cut the segments of wire bent 90 degrees from the center of each spiral (the portion of wire that went inside the hole in the spiral maker.) Once you have cut that excess wire, use your bent chain nose pliers to slowly complete the spirals with a series of small bends of the wire. With the two spirals completed they should appear as shown at right. Step 16: The final step in making the double spiral wire component is to harden the wire by squeezing it in the jaws of your nylon jaw pliers. Make five double spiral wire components using these steps. |
